CAMP PROGRAM INFO: New Country Day Camp is an oasis for children growing up in New York City. All of our campers and staff ride the camp bus from stops in North Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan to the beautiful Henry Kaufman Campgrounds on Staten Island. Our older campers spend their mornings with their friends in camp groups of kids their age. In their groups, they'll have an opportunity to try all of our camp programs. In the afternoons, campers spend time in program units which they choose independently on Mondays, and which last the week through Friday.

At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called "Gate System and Parking Lot Duty." This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.

Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harm's way by funneling them into our gate system. CAMP FACILITIES: Summit has approx. 30 traditional wooden cabins with electric and private facilities in each cabin. Our main buildings include our newly refinished dining hall, air-conditioned recreational hall, our medical facility, and a newly built outdoor pavilion. Summit utilizes three A frame buildings for our arts programs, a wilderness treehouse with camp fire area for cookouts, newly resurfaced basketball/tennis courts, high/low ropes course with climbing wall, heated pool, private lake, nature fields with a farm area, martial arts dojo, go-kart track with 3 karts. Summit has a small amphitheatre adjacent to our lake, with a miraculous view of our beautiful setting where we enjoy swimming, canoeing, and riding our banana boats. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summit Camp is a co-ed sleepaway camp for ages 8-19 years with issues of attention: AD/HD, HFA/Asperger’s Disorder, and/or learning differences. Using the frame of a traditional sleepaway camp, we create platforms of success where our campers can experience outcomes such as improved self-esteem, lasting friendships, and increased independence. This is accomplished through a well-orchestrated and expertly staffed backdrop to a largely traditional camp experience- guided challenges, waterfront, adventure course, and more. CAMP FACILITIES: Forrestel is located on a sprawling 800 acre farm with a variety of landscape features. Campers enjoy a large number of activities on our fields, streams, woodlands and campground. The buildings include a beautiful 1825 Greek Revival farmhouse, barn complex, eating house, tennis court, indoor arena, many outdoor rings and our campsite with modern shower house and large fire pit. The campers are housed in tent cabins. New in 2014 is our first cabin for the youngest campers located adjacent to the shower house.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Forrestel’s horseback riding programm is a very unique one, which offers 2 programs; Horsemanship 1 and Horsemanship 2.

Our international and local riding counselors are all qualified, experienced and passionate about teaching our campers to ride. The campers are taught on one of Forrestel’s family owned, well schooled horses, who are carefully matched to the child with age, size, ability and experience taken into consideration. Campers also have the option of bringing their own horse/pony with them to camp.

Riding instruction at Forrestel includes structured ring work and cross country riding. Our campers can choose to focus on different areas of their riding which can include; hunt seat equitiation, dressage, eventing, cross country and show jumping.

We also have our speciality horsey activities, which are all firm favourites. They include pony club games, trail riding, trips to the horse pond and overnight, and decorate a horse.

Within our Riding Program we also offer a stable management option, which includes all aspects of horse care from mucking out, trailer safety, preparing for shows, braiding and veterinary care.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Pok-O-MacCready Camps is one of the oldest summer camps in the world. In fact, our boys’ camp is the oldest in the United States having been privately owned and operated by the same family since its establishment in 1905. In 1967 our current director, Jack Swan, saw the need for a summer camp for girls and opened Camp MacCready. We are now one big family, combining our names to “Pok-O-MacCready” and operating as a traditional residential Adirondack summer camp for boys and girls ages six to sixteen.

The proximity of our summer camp to the Adirondack Wilderness Park grants us access to more than 6 million acres of woodland, rocks, rivers, lakes, and mountains to explore. Summer camp isn’t just for kids anymore! Want to experience camp for yourself and wrap it up into an inexpensive family vacation? Maybe you and your children are just curious to see what Pok-O-MacCready is all about, but you’re not quite ready to take the plunge with an entire summer. It’s true! Many of our campers choose to stay for all seven weeks of the summer. Staying for the whole season really allows campers to hone their skills in their class areas, go on more wilderness trips, and means they won’t miss out on any of the big summer camp events! In addition, 7-weekers get to enjoy special events in between the 4-week and 3-week session break such as Beach Day and a day trip to the Great Escape amusement park. Some campers choose to register for the first 4 weeks, and then decide later to upgrade to the full 7-week session, and that’s just fine by us. If you’re unsure whether your camper would like to be a 4-weeker or a 7-weeker, don’t worry…it only takes a mouse-click for us to change a 4-weeker to a 7-weeker. Feel free to discuss that option with your child if you think they could benefit from a longer session!

The first half of the summer consists of our 4-week overnight program. The 4-week session allows campers to learn new skills and take part in a variety of classes. “ROOKIE CAMP” (2 Weeks, for ages 6-10 only)

For the first two weeks of the 4-Week session, we run a two week “Rookie Camp” for first-time campers between the ages of 6 to 9 years old. We feel this short session is a good bite-sized introduction to summer camp, and also allows campers the flexibility to stay on for the remainder of the 4-week session if they get bitten by the “summer camp bug” and want to stay longer!

3-WEEK SESSION (Overnight) JULY 31, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $4,600

The 3-Week session offers two options to campers: a traditional overnight summer camp program, or a day-camp option. The 3-Week session is full of fun classes Mondays – Fridays, with special events planned on the weekends. It’s also the session in which our famous GREEK GAMES take place, as well as some of our campers’ all-time favorite camp events like the “Pok-O-Palooza” music festival, the Jack’s Cup sailing race, Casino Night, and the Pok-O County Fair.

3-WEEK SESSION (Day Camp)* JULY 21, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $2,100 for a first-time camper.

Our day campers attend camp from approximately 9am to about 5pm Mondays through Fridays. Just like overnight campers, they get to create their own class schedule from a list of over 30 program offerings. They are, of course, assigned to a cabin and counselor and have their own bunks so they have a comfortable spot to relax during Rest Hour. Day campers also have the option of staying the night for an evening activity or program if they wish, and we can easily make those arrangements, although a small fee may apply. They also have the added bonus of being able to stay overnight the last week of camp for no additional fee!

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 14 rustic cabins and 2 large modern cabins, 1-mile of Long Island Sound beachfront, a 30-acre fresh water kettle lake, outdoor basketball court, beach volleyball court, soccer field, fishing dock, and lots of outdoor space for cooking, archery, exploring, singing and dancing, campfires, and more!

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers stay in secure, clean, modern corridor-style residence halls dedicated to summer campers. Males and females are housed in separate buildings. When not in class or practice, students have lots of fun participating in a variety of recreational activities including outdoor games like "Capture the Flag" and "Ultimate Frisbee," indoor games, movies, visits to a nearby lake for picnics and campfires, hikes, relaxing and socializing at the village Coffee House and each camp closes with a farewell party the last night of their camp.

Our 5 year old program also features a 'Mini Club' period which allows each group to select from a list of their favorite activities to participate in each day.

6 & 7 Year Olds
Our 6 & 7 year olds take full advantage of our famous 'Club Elective' program on a daily basis, allowing our campers to customize their schedules with their favorite activities! Club options include our famous 'Showtime' musical theatre production, athletic clinics, innovative studio art projects, and many more! Campers also enjoy our full-sized facilities including three heated pools, an arts & crafts pavilion, tennis courts, soccer field, basketball courts, baseball field, ga-ga courts, music studios, performing arts stage and much more!

8 Year Olds
In addition to participating in our great range of traditional activities, our 8 year old campers get the chance to experience the excitement and spirit of teamwork associated with our 'Sports Leagues'. Sports Leagues begin on an every other day basis, alternating with a SECOND 'Club Elective' period. League Teams are divided equally with emphasis being good sportsmanship and building self-esteem. Campers may also participate in one of our 'Showtime' musical theatre productions, cook, swim, dance, explore nature, and take advantage everything that our camp program has to offer!

9 & 10 Year Olds
At Hampton Country Day Camp, we recognize that our Seniors are looking for a more innovative and customizable summer experience so we give it to them! Our 'Club + Sports Leagues' program allows Seniors to tailor their summer experience for up to two hours each day. Additionally, Seniors have "Flex" periods in their schedule throughout the week which allow their group to once again choose between a list of available activities to participate in. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: OUR PHILOSOPHY

Camp SAY was established with one goal in mind – to provide children who stutter with a highly immersive and accepting summer camp experience that builds self-confidence and helps children develop the vital communication skills they need to fully express themselves without fear, bullying or ridicule.

Complementing our wide range of exciting traditional camp activities, Camp SAY provides each child with unique experiences that challenge them in a safe way, creating a strong sense of achievement and helping them confidently navigate the unique issues that children who stutter face in the everyday world.

STAFF
The staff is dedicated to creating a safe and accepting environment where every child can find their beautiful and unique voice. Approximately 80% of children return to camp. Parents and campers tell us it’s our staff and unique approach that consistently exceed expectations, making Camp SAY such a rewarding and transformative experience.

We provide an excellent Staff-to-Camper Ratio: With Camp’s leadership team, camp counselors, specialized activities staff and more, our staff-to-camper ratio is 1 staff member for every 2-3 campers. In addition, each bunk is staffed at night with at least 2 counselors for an average of 6-10 campers.

Counselors complete a comprehensive training program to support the social, emotional and physical needs of all our campers. Staff development includes leadership training and extensive information about stuttering, camper health and safety, camp philosophy, policies and procedures and much more. Additionally, Specialized Activities Staff is carefully selected based on their skills and expertise.

ACTIVITIES:
Camp SAY offers an incredible range of activities, including:

Creative Arts
Arts & crafts – including painting, drawing, jewelry making, lanyard and tie-dye

Performing Arts
Dance, dramatic arts, creative writing, playwriting, pottery, singing & songwriting, video production and more.

Land Sports
Baseball, basketball (6 courts), kickball, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis (9 all-weather Courts), volleyball, Frisbee and more.

Waterfront Activities
Swimming in a lake and heated swimming pool, as well as canoeing, kayak course, paddleboats, swimming, waterslide, zip-line, and more.

Outdoor
Adventure programs feature hiking and nature walks, rock-climbing walls, campfires (for S’mores and stories), recycling and environmental programs, ropes courses and more.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Tuition and travel are offered on a sliding scale basis so all children can attend Camp SAY. To date, no child has been turned away from Camp SAY due to a family's inability to pay.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Camp offers Family Day where families visit campers, and in addition to welcoming kids & teens who stutter, we also welcome siblings and friends (ages 8-18).

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Camp SAY is a program of The Stuttering Association for the Young, which also offers year-round Confident Voices after-school & weekend arts programs and Speech Therapy. Learn more at: Our Camp Website Link: www.SAY.org

OTHER CAMP INFO: Meals: Camp SAY provides a wonderfully balanced meal plan with great options that kids will enjoy. In addition to the delicious main meals, we provide tasty snacks at key times during the day. We can accommodate a broad range of food restrictions to ensure that your child’s experience at Camp SAY is truly memorable.

Talented Nursing Team: Your child’s safety and well being is our highest priority. Our camp is staffed by a full-time, on-site registered nurse who can properly dispense any family-provided medications and can access medical specialists as needed.

Traveling to Camp SAY: Campers come from all around the country and abroad. We work closely with families to make each child’s trip to Camp SAY as safe and enjoyable as possible. We schedule a chaperoned flight from the southeast to New York City. Children taking individual flights are welcomed at the gate by camp staff. Upon arrival at the airport, camp staff helps navigate baggage claim, arrange check-in for return flights, and board campers on the bus for a fun trip to Camp SAY.

Our Personalized Approach: In order to fully personalize your child’s camp experience, our team obtains detailed preferences in advance of camp from you and your child – from their activities to seemingly small yet important details. For example, children who have birthdays at Camp SAY are celebrated with a group birthday song and birthday cake.
